Description

Walk Awhile is a family run rural business that offers a select range of walking holidays commencing all year round in the heart of the Kent Countryside of England, within 50 miles of London.

Our walking holidays have been designed to meet the needs of a wide range of abilities and can be adapted to suit specialist needs. Average distances travelled per day are 10 miles walking, but can be extended for the more ambitious.

Our range of UK walking holidays include:

* Walking the Pilgrims Way
* Discovering Rural Kent
* The White Cliffs' Tour

Both self-led and guided holidays include daily Tracker support who will be qualified as a Basic Expedition Leader and hold a current First Aid Certificate with luggage transfer, staying in quality Inn and Guest House or Hotel accommodation.

Pilgrim's Way, North Downs Way
Walk Awhile's Walking the Pilgrims Way walking holiday commences from historic Rochester Cathedral (only 45 minutes from London) and finishes at the magnificent walled city and Cathedral of Canterbury. A large part of this walk follows the route documented by Hillaire Belloc in his book The Old Road, which was taken by pilgrims in the middle ages. This walking holiday follows the North Downs Way National Trail, and enables the walker to discover the hidden secrets of this ancient county of Kent. This walking holiday along the North Downs Way takes you through some of the oldest and finest villages in England.

Discovering Rural Kent Tour
This walk has been designed to help you discover the true heart of Kent, its countryside, history and local crafts with special attention paid to the orchards, vineyards and hop-gardens. This circular walk detours to find the nooks and crannies of the county seldom visited by tourists or casual traveller. You are invited into the heart of Kent and its fascinating backwaters.

Walking the White Cliffs’ Tour
Discover the Elham Valley as you walk from Canterbury to the White Cliffs of Dover, then follow the Saxon Shore Way along the top of the White Cliffs enjoying the wealth of history connected with medieval castles, Iron-age camps and Napoleonic Forts along the trail. This tour can be extended into a circular walk to take in the Roman gateway to Britain at Richborough Castle before following the Stour Valley Trail back to Canterbury.

Self Led or Guided Walking Holidays

Self Led Walking Holidays (start any time of year at your choice)
This is the ideal holiday for those who wish to walk at their own pace. You will be met by a Walk Awhile Tracker each day, who will take care of your luggage and take you to your first night's Bed and Breakfast accommodation.

The tracker will issue you with maps and an itinerary for your walking holiday, along with useful tips on how to get the most from each day's journey. While you proceed through the countryside, Walk Awhile staff will take your luggage to your next accommodation stop. Prices start from £229 for a long week-end and £438 for a full walking holiday.

Guided Walking Holidays (start any time of year at your choice)
For those that would rather have a guide of their own or a guide with a small group of friends commencing at any date and time can hire a guide. A two night weekend walk with guide costs an additional £212; a five night tour an additional £420 and for a six night tour add £516, over and above the cost of a self-led tour (price is the additional cost of guide for a group of two people)
